This is the time for New Year’s resolutions. While you are setting your own goals, make sure to leave time for love and fun in your schedule. We all strive to have a healthy work-life balance. So don’t just look at the computer or the clocks this year.

Let’s also take time to look at each other. On that note, here’s my first poem of 2019!

Look At Me

By Venus Jones

Sometimes I feel like my work and personal life goals are too far apart.

I live by those two arrows pointing in different directions away from my heart.

One arrow wants to spend every minute in a circle of one to twelve friends.

The other is focused for an hour on the torn and tangled ends.

Like a handwritten letter on a scented page, quality time is rare.

Every loved one needs tucks and kisses, or a game of truth or dare.

Even a dry cork performs a backhand spring off a bottle of pink champagne.

Celebrate! We no longer need to keep a seal on the spirit, because that’s insane.

May I dig some joy out of your dimples, before we return to our scheduled exercise?

Look at me. Look at the happiness spilling from the corners of my eyes.
