Dear Venusian,

The number of American troops killed in Afghanistan and Iraq between 2001 and 2012 was 6,488. The number of American women who were murdered by current or ex male partners during that time was 11,766. That’s nearly double the amount of casualties lost during war.

So being the author of She Rose: on a journey from girl to Goddess, I still feel obligated to share my concerns about domestic violence.  This is a statement from Koraun, Floyd Mayweather’s son. Have you seen this?

The Mayweather fight earlier this month was a distraction on so many levels to show and prove that many of us care about the wrong fight. We’re still willing to pay to watch someone kill it vs. resurrect it.

Some of us bought the hype that Mayweather vs Pacuiao was the fight of the century. Nah the fight of the century is the one in the streets of Ferguson, now Baltimore and the one behind closed doors. The underdog is often countless abused women, girls and yes boys like Mayweather’s son.

Some are seeking help in an effort to break from the cycle of violence. Given violence is so often applauded as mere sport. “Are you not entertained?” ‪#‎gladiators‬ ‪#‎civilfights‬ ‪#‎ohthehumanity‬ #upstanders #victoryoverviolence
